Energy Shrink — a consulting practice focused on the  decarbonization of the built environment — has been selected by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to provide  Flexible Energy Technical Analysis services. New York State’s ambitious Climate Act requires the state of New York to reduce economy-wide greenhouse gas emissions 40 percent by 2030 and no less than 85 percent by 2050 from 1990 levels.

“New York’s stringent climate laws have established New York as a leader in climate mitigation,” said Energy Shrink Principal, Smita Chandra Thomas, “We are very proud to be selected to work with the State on these critical analyses.”

NYSERDA has established a pool of highly qualified consulting firms with diverse technical, energy, economic, and environmental analytical capacity to support NYSERDA in charting the pathways for decarbonization. The Energy Shrink Team of experts has been selected to support NYSERDA in the areas of assessing NYSERDA’s public benefits programs and public policy initiatives and novel technologies by performing activities such as cost-benefit analysis, assessment of best practices regarding regulatory and market‐based policies, and performing market research. These projects support NYSERDA’s mission to advance clean energy innovation and investments to combat climate change, improving the health, resiliency, and prosperity of New Yorkers and delivering benefits equitably to all.

Recognized for its thought leadership on decarbonization in the built environment, the boutique consulting practice of Energy Shrink has established a network of complementary affiliate firms to deliver cutting-edge decarbonization projects at scale. The team members on this contract include  experts in building energy modeling, program assessments, and regulatory economics.
